Supplies
5mm Crochet Hook
Pima Cotton Yarn (I used 1 and 1/2 balls)
Pattern
Step One
You need to make a crochet rectangle. This will be the top of your bag, the bit between the handles, you can make it as big or as small as you want your bag to be and as thick as you want the handle to be.
So start by making a chain as long as you want the rectangle to be. (Mine was 20, so chain 21, and single crochet into each stitch until you reach the end of your first row, chain 1 and turn and repeat until you have your desired thickness, mine was 7 rows)
Step Two
Next you want to start making the netting part of the bag, again this is super easy and will grow real quick.
So on the beginning of your next row, chain 5, then single crochet into your next stitch, chain 5 and single crochet into your next stitch until you reach the end. At the end of the row, chain 5 and turn, then this time single crochet into the loop. Continue to chain 5 and single crochet into the loop until you reach the end loop. At the end chain 5, turn and repeat. Continue this pattern until you have your desired length of your bag. I completed 33 rows.
Step Three
So once at your desired length, you want to decrease the loops and make another rectangle as at the beginning.
So, at the end of the last row, chain 1 and turn. Then single crochet into each loop. Once at the end of the row, chain 1 and turn. Continue to single crochet and continue until you have completed the same amount of rows as you did in step one.
Step Four
Now to start the handles/ border.
So at the end of the last row, chain the handle to your desired lenght. (I chained 70) then on the last one, single crochet into the other side of the same rectangle corner to join the handles. Single crochet down the side of the rectangle. Then you need to work down the side of the loops. Do this by, single crochet into the first loop, then single crochet into the next stitch, then into the loop, then into the stitch etc etc.
Continue all the way around until you reach the other rectangle. Single crochet up the side of the rectangle, then when you reach the corner chain another handle, same lenght as the other one (mine was 70). Again attached with a single crochet at the other end of the rectangle. Then single crochet into the side of the rectangle and down the loops as you did the other side of the bag, until you reach where you started. You will now have a thin border/ handles. Single crochet the whole way around this until the handles are your desired thickness.
